GDS plusと日本語化パッチを併用する実験

このツール、英語版しかない。そもそもGDS自体が公式では英語にしか対応していないので無理もないが。でも、日本語環境に無理矢理インストールしてしまってみよう。PHPやdatファイル内は文字化けするが、英数字ならちゃんと検索対象となる（アタリマエ）。

GDS plus＋GDS日本語化パッチ＝？

ところで先日記事としてお送りしたGDS日本語化パッチとの相性はどうなのだろうか。僕のパソコン環境（windowsXP XP2日本語版）でGDS plusとGDS日本語化パッチの相性をちょっと調べてみた。

何度かGDSをインストールしたりアンインストールしたりして実験してみたところ、まずGDSを普通にインストールして、次にGDSplusを適用する（ここまでは普通にGDSplusを利用する時と同じ）。そのあとに日本語化パッチを当てると、うまく行くようだ。逆に日本語化パッチを当ててからGDS plusを使うと、GDS plusがうまくインストールされない。また、これでGDS plusとGDS日本語化を併用したことになる。

ただしこれにはいくつか注意点があって、僕が試した範囲では、GDS plusで拡張したファイルタイプ（今の例だとphpやdatファイル）ではファイル内の日本語文字列までは日本語検索の対象とはならないようだ。ファイル名だけしか検索対象とならないということ。とは言え、ファイル名自体は英数字でも日本語でもしっかり検索してくれるので「あ～BoAのアルバムmp3ファイルはどこのフォルダに保存したんだっけ？」とか「去年の温泉旅行のデジカメ写真はたしかマイドキュメントのどこかにあったんだけど」というときにmp3ファイル名やjpegファイル名で「BoA」とか「onsen filetype:jpeg」で検索すればよいので、これは便利だ。

こうなってくるとアーティスト名が英数字の「BoA」は検索できて日本語名の「モーニング娘。」は検索できないなどGDS plusと日本語パッチとの隙間が不便と感じてくるが、それは残念ながらGDS日本語版が正式にリリースされるまで待つしかあるまい。
