猫アニキ「その手法なんです。ここを見てください。180日間だけ評価版のwindows server 2003を使えるんです。180日経ったら正規版を購入するかアンインストールするかしないとだめなんですけど、一つのライセンスキーで10回まで試食、いや評価版の利用ができるそうで、180日を10回使えばなんと5年にもなるということ」

オサーン「5年持ったら2010年か。もうそのころにはLONGHORNの次のwindowsまで出てそうやな」

猫アニキ「ボクも試しにうちに余っていたパソコンにインストールしてみたんですけど、ほとんどwindows XPと同じで、使い道に迷うことはなさそうです。違いと言えばドライバ類がXPに比べてやや貧弱なのと、もとは業務用ということもあって『マイミュージック』とか『マイピクチャ』なんていうフォルダがないとかですね。もう一つ、困ったことにwindows updateにちゃんと対応していないらしくて、updateするには再インストールするしかない。けどupdateのたびに再インストールしているとライセンスキーの使用サイクルが早まって、10年使うことができなくなる」

チュプ「ふーん。じゃあうまく使えば、これでwindows XP買わんで済みそうやな。この浮いたお金で温泉旅行でも行けるかも知らん」

オサーン「温泉!?いいねぇ。楽しみだなぁ」
