ついにきた「Sleipnir2」α版公開

公式サイトによると、Sleipnir2の新機能は以下の通り。

- SmartUpdate によるモジュールの自動更新
（*印付きはα版では未実装）

まだ開発途上とのことで完全なバグ取りや不具合の最適化などが完了していないバージョンだが、以前のSleipnirも2ちゃんねるのSleipnirスレッド上で侃々諤々の議論を重ねながら徐々に機能を向上させていったという経緯があるので、今作もまた開発途上版を積極的に公開して2ちゃんねるなどの意見を反映させてゆくという開発手法なのだろう。

ところで一般にα版というと一部のクローズドな環境で限られた開発者たちが試作版を評価し、そこである程度完成形に近づいたものを広く一般ユーザーの意見を募りながらチューニングしてゆくものをβ版というと思っていたのだが。たとえばGoogleのGmailは現在はβ版で広く一般ユーザーに使ってもらって意見や要望を募集している段階だ。というように考えると現在のSleipnir2はα版というよりβ版なのじゃないのかな。
