WindowsVistaのネーミングに反響続々

アンケートでは45%が「そのうち慣れる」、40%は「気に入らない」で「適切なネーミングだ」としたのは15%にすぎないという結果が出ている。なんとなく古くさい、まだ人々が科学と文明は無限に単調増加することが出来ると人類の未来を明るく信じることが出来た時代の香りがするネーミングであるということは否めない気がする。

面白いのは皮肉タップリに揶揄したブロガーの意見で、「VISTA」は「Windowsが抱えるVirses（ウイルス）、Infection（感染）、Spyware（スパイウェア）、Trojans（トロイの木馬）、Adware（アドウェア）の5つの大きな問題の頭文字をとったものだ」だそうだ。これはなかなかウィットに富んで面白いじゃないか。

さてさて、2chWindows板を見ていてもVistaに肯定的な意見はあまり出てこない。一つはXPが主力であった期間が5年とあまりにも長かったためにXPが企業から家庭ユーザーまで完全に浸透してしまっているということ（これまで98もMeも市場に完全に浸透する前に時期OSが登場していた）、またXPが安定性・利便性に富んでいるために買い換える必要性を感じさせないこと（そもそも安定性に関しては2000の時点ですでに十分なレベルに達していた）、こういうことが障壁となってVistaがなかなかシェアを伸ばせないのではないかという意見が強い。

画面効果の面で強化されるだけならある程度の知識があるユーザーは画面効果をすべてオフにして使うだろうから意味はないし、デスクトップ検索もMSNやgoogleがXPや2000で使用可能な良いものを出している。そして新ファイルシステムのWinFSは開発が遅れているというし、果たしてXPに出来なくてVistaに出来るということがどれだけあるのか。

マイクロソフトはXPで成功しすぎたが故に、Vistaで苦労することになりそうだ。
