AppleがMac miniラインナップを刷新。Mac mini第二世代へ

またOSはMac OS X ver.10.4（Tiger）が搭載され、ソフト面からもAppleの最前線に立つに見合ったものとなっている。前作はWindowsからAppleへの乗り換えを夢想していた層に強く訴えかけてかなりのインパクトを与えていたが、第二世代ともなると単に目新しさだけでは売り込むことは出来ない。実用性も高めていくことが必要になるんだろう。

残念ながら前作Mac miniが発売されたときは危うく衝動的に購入してしまうほど物欲を激しく揺さぶられた僕だが今回はそうでもない。なぜか今の物欲アンテナがmacの方向を向いていないらしい。ということで今回のMac miniは僕は買うことはなさそうだ。

ところで、macマシンにIntelのプロセッサが搭載されることになるというニュースが流れてしばらく経ったが、僕はてっきり新型Mac miniにはPentiumMプロセッサが搭載されるものだと思っていた。そもそもAppleがIBM系PowerPCからIntelプロセッサへの乗り換えを表明したのもMac miniとPowerBookにPentiumMを搭載したいからだと噂されていたのだ。うーむ、Appleは現行PentiumMではなくデュアルコアPentiumM（Yonahコア）が出るまで様子見と行くつもりだろうか。
