キヤノンの新型デジカメ「IXY Digital 700」と「同60」が登場

この新しいIXY Digitalはデザイン面では基本的にこれまでのものを踏襲しているが、700ではこれまでのシルバーに加えて新色サテンベージュが加わった。また60ではレンズ周りの部分（40では波打っていて50と55ではグレーがかっていた部分）が「極光処理」という新処理が施されているようだ。

画素数はそれぞれ710万画素、500万画素と前モデルと変更がないが、背面液晶がともに2.5型液晶画面へと大きくなっている様子。背面液晶はどの社のデジカメも拡大傾向にあって、これまでは控えめな背面液晶を提供してきたキヤノンとしてもこの傾向を見捨て置けなかったのだろう。

僕個人的に前モデルの600と55から改善して欲しいと願っていたバッテリーの持ちは撮影可能枚数がCIPA規格基準で約150枚で、300枚撮影可能なパナソニックや500枚撮影可能なリコーと比べて残念な数値。正直言って公称150枚撮影可能というのは実際には150枚よりずっと早く電池が切れてしまうことも考えると全く力不足で、SDカード容量が一杯になるという心配をする暇が全くないままバッテリー切れに追い込まれる可能性が高い。

またパナソニックのLUMIXシリーズが得意としている「手ぶれ防止機能」は今回も搭載されていない。一眼レフカメラでは僕が高2の頃にISレンズとして華々しく世界初の手ぶれ防止レンズを開発し、その後ニコンが手ぶれ防止機能を同じ一眼レフに搭載するまで2年を要するほどキヤノンはただ一社だけ手ぶれ防止技術でずば抜けていたのに、ここに来てどうしてデジカメに手ぶれ防止機能が一向に搭載されないのか不思議だ。もっとも、一眼レフカメラのISレンズ技術は電池を馬鹿食いする（僕はキヤノンの一眼レフでISレンズを持っているので体験済み）ので電池容量にシビアなコンパクトデジカメに同じ技術を搭載するのは難しいのかもしれない。

いずれにせよ、目新しいものがあるわけではなく画素数や光学系にも大きな変更があるわけではないので、旧機種を買ってしまった人も落ち込む必要はなさそう。
