これまでのMSN messengerに比べて15秒の録音メッセージを送信できる「音声メモ」を新搭載したなど、大きな改革ではないが細々としたところで機能追加が行われている。音声チャットの音声品質も向上しているとのことで、SkypeなどのIP電話型P2Pなども意識したバージョンアップとなっている。
