東大がIC学生証で後払い式の電子マネー

学生証がICカードになっているというのは他の大学でもよく見かけるものだ。そして、大学生協でおさいふケータイ等の電子マネーが使えるという大学も最近はちらほらとあるらしい。だけど、学生証がICカードで電子マネー機能を搭載、しかも後払い方式というのは全国、いや世界的に見ても初めて何じゃないだろうか。

京阪神地区で阪急電車と京阪電車が「Pitapa」を導入したときに、IC電子マネー改札システムで先行していたSuicaやICOCAの陣営は「後払い方式で大丈夫か!?」と囁かれたことが再び大学内決済方式でも言われているということだ。

ポイントもつくということで、新しい物好きの僕はこの取り組みが至極うらやましい。学生証で生協店舗での支払いが可能ということは大学当局と大学生協が完全にシステムの共有をしていると言うことと推測されるので、僕の通う大学では大学生協が大学当局とは全く独立して勝手に営利活動を行っている現状を見ると導入は難しそうだ。そもそも僕の通う大学はつい数年前にようやく学生証が厚紙のカードからプラスチックのカードに切り替わったばかりで新しいものはあまり取り入れないような感じになってしまっているが…。

大学生という集団の中にはかなりの数の「新しいもの好き」なタイプの人間が混じっていると思われるので、電子マネーのような先進的な取り組みを実験するにはカッコウの実験場だ。これからもどんどんと新しいものを開発して大学内で実験して欲しいと思うのであった。
