ソフトエンコ型TVキャプチャーボード「MonsterTV3Lite」

GR/3DYC/NRなどのノイズ除去技術も極力省き、テレビ視聴機能に必要な最低限の機能だけを搭載している。そのためか、価格はヤフオクの中古相場で約2,000円と破格の安さだ。新品でも店を選べば4,000円を切る価格で購入可能。とにかく安いTVキャプチャーボードなのだ。

オーディオケーブルをマザーボードに指す必要がないタイプなので、PCIスロットにカードを挿すだけで利用できるのも気軽でいい。音声をPCI経由でマザーボードに伝えるためにサウンドカードとの相性問題は心配しなくてよさそうなのもいい。TVキャプチャーボードと相性の悪いONKYO SE-90/150PCIシリーズとも問題なく動作している。ロープロファイルPCIでも利用OKなのでスリム型パソコンにもどうぞ。

そんなわけで使ってみた感想だけど、まぁ安いなりにあまり高望みしなければ大丈夫といったところか。視聴ソフトウェアがとにかく重く、僕のPC（AthlonXP2800+/メモリ2GB RAM/Windows2000）の環境では他のアプリ（ブラウザなど）と同時使用しているとブチブチ音飛びする。また録画しながらの視聴だともう見ることが不可能なくらい音飛びと駒落ちがヒドいので、録画するときはそのパソコンでの他の作業は一切諦めるしかなさそう。結局、ハードウェア的には悪くないのだけれど、ドライバor付属ソフトがイマイチなのが残念だ。「テレビを見るだけ」や「録画するだけ（その間はそのPCで他の作業をしない）」のならば十分実用のレベルに達しているのは確かなので、「テレビを見れればよい」「ケーブル配線はイヤ」という人には良いかも。

今度はBUFFALOのPC-MV51XR/PCIも試してみたいと思う。試すたびにお金が少しづつお金がかかるのが難点だけどねぇ。
