ところで、2.0など比較的古いPhotoshop Elementsからのユーザーだとこれらの機能は色域や範囲選択をうまく使うことで出来るんじゃないかという気もする。要するに、機能的には旧バージョンに備わっていることがより簡単にできるようになったにすぎない。旧バージョンのPhotoshop Elementsにできないこと（たとえばトーンカーブやカラーチャネルの操作）は新バージョンでも出来ないので、こういう機能を望む人はElementsではない正式版のPhotoshopを購入する必要がある。特にトーンカーブは需要も大きい機能で、僕はこの点がPhotoshopとそのElementsを決定的にわけているように思う。

とはいえ、前バージョンで出来たことをより早く簡単にできるようにするための機能が追加されているのは確か。肌色補正を例に挙げれば、これは旧バージョンでもカラーバランス（色相・彩度・明度など）の調整でできたこと。それをカラーレタッチに関する知識がない人にもワンタッチで出来るようにしているということ。要するに、Photoshop Elementsはバージョンを重ねるごとに「カンタン」になってきているのだ。
