Yahoo!とMicrosoftがメッセンジャーで相互乗り入れへ

この提携でYahoo!とMicrosoftが互いにメッセンジャーでの通信を交換するようになると、米国内のユーザー数でAOLのIMに後れを取っていた両社のIMに一気に弾みがつく。あるいはこの流れが広がってYahoo!、MSN、AOLが全て相互通信ができるようになるかもしれない。IMが相手の使っているメッセンジャーの種類に依存しなくなると、電子メール並に誰もが使える通信手段になるかもしれない。

ところで米国Yahoo!と日本のYahoo!japanは使っているIMの形式が違うのか、互いに通信することが出来ない。Yahoo!が運営しているサイトはほとんどがYahoo!本体のコピーにすぎないのだけれど、日本のYahoo!だけはYahoo!本体ではなくソフトバンクが運営しているので米国とはシステムが違うところが大きいのだ。米国Yahoo!のIMと通信するには米国Yahoo!が配布している"米国版Yahoo!messenger"を使う必要がある。となると、今回報じられているYahoo!とMicrosoftのIM相互乗り入れに日本のYahoo!は入っているのだろうか？ちょっと確認してみようとしたけれど現時点では確かめることができなかった。相互乗り入れが始まったら確認してみたいと思う。
