楽天もポイントキャンペーンを取りやめにするだけならまだここまで祭りにならなかったはずだった。しかしあまりにもマズい対応を連発して、VIP板@2ch掲示板の連中を刺激してしまったという構図になっている。

マズい対応というのは、自社ポイントのネットでの需要見通しが甘かったことやキャンペーンの穴があったことを棚に上げて、いかにも「楽天市場は被害者で、VIP板の連中のせいでこちらが迷惑している」と言わんばかりの対応のこと。楽天側の最初の「お知らせ」でキャンペーンでポイントを獲得した人のポイントを（正規利用か不正利用か調べずに）一律で没収してしまったことや、そのポイントをすでに使って買い物を済ませてしまった人は（代金支払いに同意していないにもかかわらず）一方的にクレジットカードに利用ポイント分に相当する現金を請求してしまっている。

さらに、ポイントが取り消しになったので注文をキャンセルしようとした一部の利用者はショップ側からキャンセル料を請求されたケースもあるらしく、またこの祭りのあおりを食うことをおそれた楽天のショップの一部はポイントを利用した注文の受付を停止したり、すでに受け付けた注文も取り消したりして、事実上楽天スーパーポイントのまともな利用自体ができない状態に陥っている。

楽天はどうしてこうも印象の悪い会社になってゆくのか不思議（まぁあの社長がいかにもお高くとまっている感じでもともと2chネラーからの評判は芳しくなかったが）だが、いったいドコまで落ちてゆくのか、傍観者的にはちょっとワクワクテカテカしていたりする。
