新型Google desktop search3は使ってはいけない？

この新型Google desktopはこれまでのデスクトップ検索から一歩進んで、構築したインデックスを自分のパソコンないのローカル環境だけでなくGoogleのサーバー内にも確保するようになっている。このことが色々なトラブルの原因となりうるという報告みたい。

確かに自分のパソコン内に保存されたほとんどのファイルに関する情報が、自分が管理できないところにあるサーバー内に保存されてしまうというのは危険な要素も含んでいる。自分の情報を自分のコントロール下においておけない、管理する権限を放棄していることに近いから、とも言える。

それにしても、じゃぁこの新型Google desktopを使わなければ安全なのかというと、それも怪しい気がする。これほどネットが高度に自分のパソコンと結合した状態にあって自分の情報がどれだけ外部から保存されているのかというと怪しい。ブラウザでネットサーフィンを楽しみ、メールのやりとりをするだけならまだ安全な方かもしれない。しかし、パソコンにはたくさんのアプリケーションをインストールしてあるし、インターネットエクスプローラーにも色々なツールバーを実装していたりする。どこまで自分の情報が守れているのかということを胸を張って把握していると言い切れる人はあまりいないんじゃないかと思う。

今の平和な世の中にあってはこれがすぐに自分のみの危険に及ぶということは無いと思うが、せめて、自分の情報は思ったほどは守られていないというくらいの意識は持っていたほうがよいのかもしれない。
