Winnyウイルス（キンタマウイルス）から身を守る。

ちなみにキンタマウイルスというのは2chで呼ばれている俗称で、そもそもこのウイルスは2chのダウソ板の住民の一人が作ったもののようだ。ウイルスの名前というのは誰かがウイルス名を決める役員になっていて正式名称を決定しているというわけではなくて、よく聞くウイルス名はSymantecやMcAfeeやTrendmicroなどウイルス対策・セキュリティソフトウェアを作っている会社の中の人が勝手に名前を付けて呼んでいるだけだ。

だから同じウイルスでもNortonとウイルスバスターで呼び名が違うということは起こりえる。キンタマウイルスの場合はNorton的にはAntinnyという名で呼ばれているので、ニュースでは「アンティニーに感染したパソコンが…」と言っていることがあり、これは「キンタマウイルスに感染したパソコンが…」と言っているのとほぼ同じ。かわいい女子アナに「キンタマ」と言わせると興奮する人がいるかもしれないので別名で呼んでいる、というわけではない。ちなみに、ウイルスには膨大な亜型がいるので、亜型によって名前が変わることがあったりして結構ややこしい。

Winnyなどファイル交換ネットワーク上では送信データの容量を小さくするためにzipやrarなどの圧縮形式になったファイルがやりとりされている。このファイルのやりとりの是非・善悪はここでは問わないことにして、この圧縮ファイルを解凍したときに目的のファイルに同封されているexeファイル（アプリケーションファイル）がこのキンタマウイルスの感染源となるファイルらしい。また、同じウイルスでjpgやhtmlの形式を取るものもあり、exeでないからと言って油断は出来ない。Winnyで落としたファイルを解凍したとたんにウイルス対策ソフトが警報を表示する場面に遭遇した人は少なくないだろうけど、これが噂のウイルス。

ウイルス対策ソフトが駆除してくれるのに任せておけば大抵の場合はOK。間違ってもこのexeファイルを開かないことが肝心で、exeファイルを駆除したあとは目的のファイルを開いても大丈夫。ウイルスは日々亜型が出ている可能性があるのでこまめにウイルス対策ソフトのウイルス定義ファイルのアップデートをしておこう。

感染してしまっているかどうかも自分で確かめることが出来る。キンタマウイルスに感染すると勝手にWinnyの設定ファイルを書き換えるので、このファイルが書き換えられているかどうかを見ればキンタマウイルスに感染しているかどうかがわかるのだ。Googleで「キンタマウイルス」や「Winnyウイルス」で検索すればその方法はすぐにわかるけれど、とりあえず詳しいサイトへのリンクを張っておこう。ここはよくまとめられていて、このサイトを参考に自分のパソコンがキンタマウイルスに感染していないかをチェックできる。

一度Winnyネットワーク上に流出したファイルは二度と回収することは出来ないので、普段からの予防がなにより大事。Winnyを使うときには最新のウイルス定義ファイルへアップデートしたり、落としたファイルを開く前にそのファイルをウイルススキャンするだけでも全然リスクが変わってくるはず。

そして、漏れたら困るデータはCD-Rに焼いて別の所に保管しパソコンのHDD上に残さないことや、Windowsの暗号化ファイルシステム（Encrypting File System：EFS）を使うなどでファイルを守ることも出来る（EFSはWindows2000またはWindows XP Professionalでないと使えない。Home editionは不可）。ただしEFSはファイルのプロパティから簡単に設定できるというメリットがあり、またEFSで守られたファイルは暗号化したパソコン（またはそのパソコンで生成した解凍錠をインストールした別のパソコン）以外では開けないという安心感はあるが、自分でパソコンを買い換えたときや職場のパソコンで開こうとしても開けなくて困る可能性もあるので、ある程度パソコンに詳しい人以外にはオススメしない。

なんにせよ、地震への備えと同じで何事もトラブルが起こる前の平時から備えておかなければ、一度漏れてしまってからでは遅いのだ。
