Ctrlキーを2連打することで検索ボックスが画面中央に表示されて即座に検索できるなど、使い勝手の面ではまたいくらかの改善がある模様。気になるのはDonut系やSleipnirなどのIEコンポーネントブラウザのキャッシュをインデックスしてくれるかどうかということで、これはバージョン2から対応して欲しかったことなのだが…。

そして企業ユーザーなどで気になるのは自分のパソコンのインデックスが自分のパソコン内だけでなくGoogleのサーバーにも保管されるというところだろう。これは要するに自分のパソコンにどんなファイルがあるのかという情報の固まりであるインデックスが、自分の権利では操作できないところにあるサーバー内に保管されるということで、機密情報流出の懸念はもちろん、緊急でその情報を削除する必要が生じたときにもGoogleサーバー内のインデックスは自分の手では削除できないということなどの点でリスクがないとは言えない。

僕は、旧バージョン（すなわちGoogle Desktop 2）を利用していたうちの一人だけど、日本語版がリリースされてすぐに新バージョンに移行するかどうかは分からない…。しばらくは様子見をすると思いますが。
