MovableType3.3が6月27日に国内リリース予定

MovableTypeは実は3.2の出荷の時に失敗をしている。βを一度出したもののそこでは大した修正は成されず、何事もなかったかのように3.2製品版をリリースした直後からその不具合が相次いで見つかり、すぐに修正パッチの公開を迫られている。何のためのβだったのかという声も聞かれて、SixApartの準備の甘さが指摘されたという苦い思い出がある。それだけに、βが終了して製品版が出たからといってすぐに適用して良いのかどうかは考え所。個人のブログ程度ならともかく、企業ユーザーや大規模コミュニティの管理に使っている人は導入には慎重にならざるを得ない。

それに、なんだかんだ言ってこの3.2は非常に優れたバージョンで日本語にも初めから対応していたり導入が簡単に行えたりして人気の高いバージョンであった。そして3.14から3.2に移行して3.3のβが始まるまでの期間があまりにも長かったために、3.2対応のプラグインやテンプレートは巷に出回っている。今さらバージョンを新しいものに変更しても不具合は出ないのか、念入りにチェックするのは意外と労力がいる。

それだけに、3.3が導入されたあかつきには3.2よりも良いものになっていなければならないというプレッシャーは強かろう。僕も3.3が問題ないようであればこのブログを3.3にアップグレードするつもりではあるけれど、苦労してアップグレードしたらバグだらけでした、では洒落にならない。期待のぶんだけプレッシャーを背負うのは、ブログツールとして世界最高の地位を得てしまったMovableTypeの宿命なのだろう。
