Core 2 Duo搭載モデルが続々予約受付開始

ドスパラがラインナップ豊富で自作もできるレベルのユーザーからOSインストールくらいしかできないレベルのユーザーまで幅広く対象としているのはいつものことながら好感度は高い。クレバリーはケースの選択枝の狭さもあって自分で組み上げられる人が自分でパーツだけを買ってゆく人のほうが多そう。サイコムはなんと言ってもその価格が魅力的だが、サポートはほとんど期待できないのでトラブルが起こっても独力で解決できる人専用。ツクモはクレバリーと同じでパーツ購入者向けか。その他にも、デル、エプソンダイレクト、マウスコンピュータなどのより一般向けに近い販売元でもCore 2 Duo搭載モデルの予約を受付開始している。もちろん、ソニー、NEC、東芝なども当然参入してくる。

このCore 2 Duo搭載モデルの予約販売を見ていて驚くのはその安さ。Intelの最新CPU（しかもCeleronのような廉価モデルではない）を搭載していても価格は6～8万円程度で手に入るものもある。そもそもCPU自体が2.5万円前後から、LGA775対応マザーボードも1万円あれば十分手に入り、それにドライブやメモリを足すだけなのだから、贅沢を言わなければ6万円で完成品が売られているのも無理はない。

いい時代になったもんだ。僕が今使っているパソコンに最初に入っていたCPUはAthlonXP 2800+だったが、これだって購入するときにはAthlonXP 2800+/RAM512MB搭載モデルは6万円程度はしていた。それが、今では高嶺の花だったはずのデュアルコアCPUを搭載して同じ値段だもんなぁ。マザーボードを変えて今ではヤフオクでたまたま手に入れたTurion64 ML-37を使っているが、はてはて、僕も久々にIntel CPUに手を出してみるかな…あ、モバイルノートのThinkpad X40ではずっとPentium Mでした（;´Д｀）。
