AopenのPCケース「ACH301-450IW」を買いました。

このPCケースは、ATXフルサイズのマザーボードを搭載できる懐の広さを持ちながらケースサイズは奥44cm×幅17cm×高35cmで、高さが40cm未満に収まるいわゆるミニタワーケースである。他社からもいくつか、ATX搭載可能なミニタワーは発売されているが、マザーボードを倒立させて収納するとかいう怪しい技を使っている製品もあり手を出しにくいのに対して、素直にマザーボードやドライブ類が取り付けられるこのACH301の希少性は高い。メジャー自作パーツメーカーの商品なので、自作ファンに優しい設計になっている。

搭載している電源は450Wとかなり余裕がある。5インチベイ×3、3.5インチベイ×3（うちシャドウ×2）、通気箇所はフロントが8cm×1、側面が12cm×2、背面が8cm×2と、こういう構成もかなり良い感じ。左側面に縦に2つ並んだ通気箇所のうちの片方（上側）には通気ダクトが、もう片方（下側）には12cmファンが購入時から付いている。ちなみにこの初期装備されている12cmファンは相当ウルサいので音の大きさに拘る人は自分で低回転のものを用意しておきたい。底面には電源用の12cm排気ファンがついていて、床との間に1.5cmほど空間が空くように挙げ底がしてあるが、じゅうたんの上などに置くとこの排気口はふさがってしまいそうだ。

後ろから取り込んだ主電源はケース右壁に沿って内部を進んで電源ユニットに至る。この電源ユニットは前面にスイッチと115/230ボルト切替スイッチがついている。余談だが、僕が購入した製品はこの部分のケーブルの接続がやや緩くなっていて、パソコンをくみ上げた時に電源が入らずに四苦八苦した。原因究明までの数時間は、不良品を掴まされたという絶望感に悩まされたが、実際は単なるケーブルのゆるみであって、しょうもないことにずいぶんと気を揉まされてしまった。

内部がかなり広い上に電源ユニットからの配線がすべて全面に起始しているので、もしかしたら普通のタワー型ケースよりよっぽど組みやすいかもしれない。決して静かではない電源ユニットが尻を前に向けているので超静音PCを組みたい人には向かないが、自作になれていない人がまず一台組んでみようと言うときには案外こういう電源前部型のほうが適しているかな。エアフローもなかなかで、前面に8cmの低回転ファンを一つ置いておくとさらに状況は良くなりそうだ。
