AMD Dual-Core Optimizerを入れたらいいってわけじゃないらしい

たとえば、僕のパソコンで起こった例。Athlon64 X2 3800+を乗せたマザーボードにテレビキャプチャボードIO-DATA GV-MVP/RX3を取り付けてテレビもみられるテレパソ使用にしていたのだが、2chでこのAMD Dual-Core Optimizerの存在を知って、（それまで特に不具合が出ていたわけではないのにもかかわらず）とにかくインストールしてみた。

すると、これまで何も不具合がなく見ることができていたテレビ画像でさかんに引っかかりを感じるようになってしまった。5～10秒に1度くらい、一瞬画面が引っかかるだけなので普通のテレビ視聴に支障は無いと言えばそうなのだけど、気持ちが悪いことも否めない。

IO-DATA GV-MVP/RX3はIO-DATAのテレビキャプチャボードのうちの売れ筋商品の一つだったのだけど、実はデュアルコアCPUには正式には対応しておらず、IO-DATAのサポートもデュアルコアCPU搭載パソコンでこのキャプチャボードを使うことを推奨していない。そんなことも不具合の一つの背景なのかもしれないけれど、とにかくこのアプリケーションは僕はアンインストールしてしまった。その後、特に何も不具合も気持ち悪い挙動もないままで経過している。

その他、このAMD Dual-Core Optimizerをインストールしてから、WindowsXPで休止状態やスタンバイからの復帰に失敗することがあるらしい。とにかく、パソコンにとって、便利ではあるが扱いの難しさがあることも否めないらしいデュアルコアCPU。正しいドライバと正しいパッチの導入で、快適なPCライフを送りたいものだ。
