Scythe NINJA SCNJ-1000はCPU冷却装置の自作用パーツ販売として有名なサイズが以前販売していたファンレス用ヒートシンクで、Athlon64やTurion64、それにPentiumMなどでのファンレス化・静穏化ブームに乗って人気を博したヒートシンク。大きさはややかさばるので薄型ケースには搭載しずらいが、エアフローさえ確保してやればこれ単体でも十分にCPUを冷却してくれる。

Turion64ではAthlon64と比べてCPUの石の厚みが少ないぶんだけ銅板を挟んでやるなどしなければ装着できないというヒートシンクも多かった中で、このヒートシンクはそのような銅板無しで装着でき、バックパネルを更新することで様々なソケットのCPUにも対応しているので使い勝手も良い。縦横6本のヒートパイプもあいまって、冷却性能は見た名状に高い。

残念なことに(？)なぜかいまは生産を中止してしまっているようで自作パーツショップなどをのぞいてみても品切れが多いが、ヒートシンクというパーツはそもそもHDDやCPUのように長年使い込んだからと言って劣化するものでもないので、しばらくはまだこのヒートシンクを使うのにはトラブルはなさそう。

僕はメインPCのデュアルコア化に伴ってCPUファンレスをやめてしまったので、このヒートシンクは誰かに譲ることにします。自宅に置いておいてもなかなか使う機会がないし、それまでにどんどん新しいソケットも登場してこのヒートシンクを使うチャンスが無くなってしまっても勿体ないので…。大切に使っていただけるとありがたいです。
