mixiが株式上場を果たし、会員数は百万のオーダーでどんどん増える。半年前であればSNSの双璧、二大SNSと言えばmixiとGREEのことだった。雑誌上でこの二つのSNSの比較などを企画してみたり、両方に加入して使い勝手を比べてみたりするユーザーも多かった。よりなごやかでアットホームなmixiと、高学歴層をメインにした知的で刺激的な雰囲気を持ったGREEは、お互いにそれぞれの良さを持っていたはずだった。だけど、会員数の多さがSNSの強みを反映するとすれば、mixiの前にGREEが凋落を見せるのは時間の問題だったのかもしれない。

いまではGREEはずいぶんと閑散としてしまって、足跡をみても週に数人しかアクセスしていなかったりする（僕のページのことだ…）。日記に外部ブログを指定したときに、外部へのリンクではなくそのままテキストを表示してくれるなどの仕様では僕はGREEのほうがmixiより気に入っていたのだが、もうこの閑散ぶりを見たら、GREEはmixiに完敗したといわざるを得ない。

その起死回生の一手だったのだろう。ブログポータルなどではアフィリエイトを認めていたがゆえに反映したところや、アフィリエイトを禁じていたがために伸び悩んだところもあるだろう。それをみてGREEはアフィリエイトの自由をSNSに持ち込んだのだと思うが、業者に食い荒らされてしまいかねないという懸念は本当になかったのか、聞いてみたい。僕個人としては、今回のGREEプレミアムの方針改定は、GREEの雰囲気を根底から変えて別のものにしてしまう恐ろしいものであるように思った。
