コンビニで買ったプリペイドカードでAmazon買い物が可能に

これは昨日から全国のコンビニで発売され始めたショッピングカードで、従来のAmazonギフト券と同じように使える。これまでのAmazonの買い物に対する代金支払い方法としては、クレジットカード払いの他に代金引換発送、振込払い、コンビニ店頭払いなどがあったが、それに新しい支払い方法が加わったことになる。

このショッピングカード方式はすでにiTunes Storeが導入していて、贈り物などとしても普及している。カードに書かれたコード文字列をフォームに記入することで、その額面分の買い物ができるようになると言う仕組みで、従来のギフト券はクレジットカードでしか買えない上にカードの実物はない（電子メール上のギフトコードのみを購入する）ものだったので、インターネットショッピングの初心者などにはコンビニで購入するショッピングカードのほうが親しみやすいかもしれない。

とはいえ、やっぱり僕はAmazonで買い物するならクレジットカードを使うのが一番簡単で、ポイントが貯まるぶんだけコンビニ払いなどよりもお得だと思っている。あくまで、インターネットショッピングになれていない人をAmazonに取り込むための最初の敷居を低くする目的でのショッピングカードの導入なのだろう。いずれにせよ、支払い方法の選択肢が増えることはAmazon、利用者双方にとってもプラスになることだ。
