1月25日の週刊アスキー臨時号ではWindows Vistaの特集が組まれている。僕も書店で見つけてさっそく見てみたが、Vistaの新機能情報を総まとめにしていてVistaに興味を持っている人にとってはよくまとまった内容。いささか提灯記事でVistaをヨイショしすぎな匂いもするけれど、これはこれ、新しい主力OSに対する読者の期待の表れとも言える。

一方でCNET japanではVistaがパソコンメーカーや家電販売店にとって福音とはならないであろうという口調の記事で、Vistaの華やかな新発売に関するアピールやキャンペーンを冷ややかな視線で見ている（詳しくは上記のリンク参照）。確かにVistaは要求されるスペックが非常に高く（特にAeroを活かすためにメモリ1GBを用意するというのはなかなかハードルが高い）、気軽にアップグレードしにくいということと、だいたいパソコンを使う動機がネットとWordとメールとYoutubeくらいなもんだからWindows Xpではダメだという理由がないということ、これらがVistaに対して今ひとつ期待できないネックとなっているのだろう。
