縮小する秋葉原の自作PCショップ。このままメイドの街になってしまうのか

2007年のPC-Successとワンネスの閉店の他に、これまでも多くの有力パソコンパーツショップが閉店や縮小に追い込まれている。上記リンク先に挙げられているだけでも、俺コンハウス、ぷらっとホーム、アークなどがこの例に当てはまる。クレバリーのように楽天市場やYahoo!ショッピングに出店して比較的元気の良い店もあるけれど、どうやら自作PCパーツショップというカテゴリ自体が全体的に縮小に向かっているのは間違いなさそうだ。

インターネットで見てみれば自作パソコンに関するウェブサイトは非常に多く、自作PC板＠2ちゃんねる掲示板は2ちゃんねるのパソコン関連の板の中でも比較的活気があるなど、パソコンを自作するという人の数自体はそう減っているようにも思えない。雑誌の特集などの効果もあってメモリの増設やハードディスクの交換等を自分で行う人も増えてきているのではないかという気もするのだが。

ただやはりパソコンの値下げは激しく、今では20万円を超えるパソコンを使っている人はもはや少数派なのではないかと思う。Celeron MやSempronなど非常に安価でよいCPUが手にはいるし、メモリも昨年前半に比べて値上がりしているとは言え1万数千円でギガ単位のメモリが買えてしまう。自作パソコンパーツからの売上げは相当に厳しかったのだろう。僕が住む京都でも寺町電気街に自作PCショップが何軒か並んでいるけれど、そういう目で見れば余裕があるとはとても見えない気がしてくる。

メイドと萌えの街の秋葉原というのも悪くはないのだろうけれど、パソコンの自作を趣味とする人間の一人として、秋葉原が変貌してゆくさまをネットニュースなどで見ると寂しいものだ。
