Windows Vistaの普及には時間がかかりそう。

調査方法はNet Mileリサーチ（アンケートに回答すればお小遣いやポイントが貰えるサイトの一つ）でのアンケートによるものということなので、回答しているのは比較的パソコンやインターネットの事情の通じたデジタルリテラシーの高い層だと思われ、それがなおさらVistaがXPから本当に乗り換えるだけのメリットを持ったOSかどうか見極めようという姿勢が濃く現れているのかも。

僕自身も電気製品やパソコン関連についてはかなりの新しい物好きだと自認しているけれど、今回はまだWindows Vistaには手を出していない。最近はすべきことが立て込んでいてそのような「パソコン遊び」に手を出す時間があったら他にすることがあるというのも理由の一つだが、それ以外にもVistaが安定して使えるのかどうかがわからないので周りの状況を見極めたいという思いもある。

たとえばグラフィックカードやサウンドカードのドライバが安定して出そろっているかどうか、XP上で使っていたアプリケーションはVistaでも問題なく使えるのかどうか、そういうことがわかるまではなかなか新しいOSには手を出しづらい。Crystal CPUIDやRam PhantomやDeamon toolsや、そういう「Microsoft非公認」的なアプリケーションはVista上でも問題なく使えるのか保障がない。そういえば、僕がWindows 2000からXPに移行するまでにも数年のタイムラグを要したのだった。

そういうことで、Windows XPからWindows Vistaへの以降にはかなりの時間がかかると見る予想が一般的のようだ。だいたいXPも大部分のパソコンユーザにとっては相当に完成度の高いOSなのだから、敢えて金銭コストと時間と手間を掛けてその環境を抜け出す必要性がない。当面は現行のマシンでXPを使い続け、数年後にパソコンを買い換えるときに自然にVistaへ移行する、という流れになっているようだ。
