コンビニは鉄道の改札と並んで、手間をかけずにぱっと決済したい場所の代表格なのでおサイフケータイの普及にとってはポイントになる場所で、しかも全国に展開している店舗数も馬鹿にならない数なので各陣営が取り込みに熱心になっているみたい。三井住友カード系のiDはEdyやSuicaに比べてやや出遅れていた感じだけれど、ampmとローソンとを取り込んで一応は電子マネー規格合戦の一角に居場所をキープしたっぽい。

でもって、先頭集団をゆくEdyと、それに続くSuicaと、今回のiDでどれがどうなっているのかはわかりづらい。というか、わからないという人がほとんどだと思う。結局はEdyが一足早く普及したのでもっとも基本として使うのはEdyになるという人が多そうだけれど、ファミリーマートならSuica、同じくJR東日本利用者ならSuica、というような使い分けは必要になる。

正直言ってこの規格乱立は利用者にとってはわかりづらくて手を出しにくい。結局「こんなにややこしいなら、おれ、現金でいいッス…」という人が増えるだけになりそうで、規格をわかりやすくすることと互換性を確保することは必須だと思われるが。さてどうなることやら。
