三井住友銀行がさらにATM手数料改定。郵貯ATMも無料に

今回の改訂で、10月からは平日昼間は郵貯ATMで無料で入出金が可能となる。三井住友銀行のATMが約3000台、コンビニATMが2006年の段階でおよそ25000台とのことだが、これに郵貯ATMが加わるとのこと。ちなみに三井住友銀行のニュースリリースでは郵貯ATMの台数は全国で13000台と記されているが、郵便貯金の公式サイトによると郵貯ATMの台数は全国で26500台となっており、全国の郵便局数が20000局あることを考えても後者の数字が正しいように思える。正確にはどちらが正しいのかわからない。

これまでは三井住友銀行は三菱東京UFJ銀行やみずほ銀行に比べて手数料の無料化に非常に消極的だったのがここ数ヶ月でいきなり方向転換して価格破壊路線を歩み始めたので、ネット上では「これまで最後尾でイヤイヤ言ってたやつがいきなり先頭にしゃしゃり出て大はしゃぎしている」とからかう声も聞こえてきたけれど、おおむね利用者は歓迎しているはず。だいたい、自分が支払う手数料が無料になって喜ばない人の方が少数派だと思うが。

僕の場合も初めてのバイト代、初めてのクレジットカード引き落とし、公共料金引き落とし、証券会社などの登録銀行からずっと三井住友銀行がメインバンクになっていて（だからこそヤフオクでは三井住友銀行を落札者には提示していないが）、今回の改訂はうれしい。自宅の最寄りのコンビニがファミリーマートで、そのコンビニATMがこれまで無料ではどの都銀にも解放していなかったイーネットATM（MUFGメインバンク条件クリアを除く）だったので、突然非常に便利になる。

ちなみにこれまで三井住友銀行を使ったことがなかった人も、Web通帳を使用するという条件ならすぐに満たすことができるので、これでコンビニATMが無料で使えるようになる。ジャパンネット銀行のように口座維持手数料を取られると言うこともないので、これまでは地銀口座ですべて完結していた人にとっても、これからの時代は一人一つはメガバンク口座を持つことが当たり前になってくることだろう。
