グラボを換えたらGV-MVP/RX3でもコマ落ちしなくなった

数年前に購入して一時期は自宅のメインPCでテレビを鑑賞することが出来ていたが、どうもこのGV-MVP/RX3はデュアルコア製品に正式に対応する気がないのか、いつまで経ってもデュアルコア対応しないので外してしまっていた。DTV板＠2ch掲示板ではこのデバイスがデュアルコアCPUでも問題なく動作するとの報告が相次いでいたが、どうやっても僕のメインPCでは動作しない。というか、画像が映ってテレビの視聴が出来るものの、コマ落ちがひどくて鑑賞に堪えないものなのだった。デュアルコア用のドライバがないことがこの不具合の原因だと思っていて、デュアルコアCPUに対応しないならもう諦めようと思い立ちこのボードを外してしまっていたのだ。

ところが、先週の記事で書いたようにうちのメインPCのグラフィックボードをSapphaire Radeon 9600ファンレスから、ASUS N7600GS SILENTに換えてみたのを機に、再びこのテレビチューナー・キャプチャーボードGV-MVP/RX3もパソコンの最後のPCIスロットに装着してみた。すると、なんとコマ落ちもなく正常に動作するではないか。ビデオカードの画面設定でオーバーレイのガンマが初期設定では異常に低く設定されていたので表示の色がおかしかったが、これはグラフィックボード側のオーバーレイのガンマの設定で解決された。唯一、ダイレクトプレビューのハードウェアエンコード機能を使ったときのみ画面のカクツキが出るが、これは設定でソフトウェアエンコードとすることでCPU使用率が10％程度増加するものの、その他の問題はなく解決した（そもそもダイレクトプレビュー機能を使わなければ問題とならない）。

というわけで、どうやらデュアルコアCPUが悪かったのではなくグラフィックボードの性能不足でコマ落ちが生じていたようだった。Radeon 9600であれば問題ないかと思っていたが、ファンレス化のためにメモリクロックを抑制されたバージョンであったこともあってどうやら力不足だったようだ。

これで、うちのメインPCの構成は以下のようになった。HDD以外は全て中古でヤフオクで購入したものばかりである。
マザーボード： ASUS A8V-MX
CPU： Athlon 64 X2 3800+ （Socket 939）
メモリ： DDR 3200 1GB x2枚
HDD： HGST Deskstar T7K500 HDT725032VLA360 （320GB 7200rpm 16MBキャッシュ）
AGP： ASUS N7600GS SILENT 256MB
PCI-express x1：空
PCI (1)： ONKYO SE-90PCI
PCI (2)： IO DATA GV-MVP/RX3

C2D E6750(2.66GHz)でグラボはオンボード(GMA3100)ですが、
問題なく動作してます。
GMA3100はチップセット内臓とはいえ結構性能いいのかな？

Intelは比較的相性が良いようです。どちらかというとAMDのプロセッサでこの問題がひどいみたい。さらに、AMDの中でも問題なく使えている人も居るみたいで、いったい何がこの原因なのかがイマイチよくわかりません。判ったら教えてください。

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.
