AntecのMicro ATXケース「MINUET300」を購入した。

クレバリー eshopにて13618円。Micro ATXに300W電源が付いている。今の時代では中～上級グラボを搭載していると300Wの電源ではとても安定させることは出来ないように思われるが、幸か不幸かこのケースはLow profileのみの対応で、それほどハイパワーなグラフィックカードを搭載することは出来なさそう（もちろんLow profileでもパワーのある製品が無いわけではない）。

5インチベイが1カ所、3インチベイはオープンとシャドウが各1カ所づつであるが、このドライブベイはフリップアウトに対応している。以前まで僕が使っていたケースはこのドライブベイがフリップアウトしない安物だったわけだが、ドライブベイがフリップアウトできるケースで一度パソコンを組んでみると、もうフリップアウトしないケースでは組む気が失せてしまうほどに、この機能は地味ながら貢献度が大きい。

また静音化のための工夫が随所に凝らされているのもこのケースの特徴の一つだ。前面の吸気口でも外部に音が漏れないような工夫がしっかりされている。電源も比較的静音なものであり、嬉しい。大型の吸気口を側面に設けているためにCPUファンの音が比較的外に漏れやすいのが、若干残念だ。これは冷却との兼ね合いで、避けられないデメリットという仕方がない面ではある。

Low profileスロットは4口用意されている。僕はこれまで、PCIスロットにはサウンドカード「ONKYO SE-90PCI」とテレビチューナー「GV-MVP/RX3」を付けていたが、このうちGV-MVP/RX3はLow profileには対応していないので現在は一時的にお役御免としている。そもそも、最近は自宅にいる時間が極端に減ってしまってテレビを見ることは月に1度もなくなってしまっているので、テレビチューナーが無くて困るということは無くなってしまった。ONKYO SE-90PCIのほうは、背面の金具を換装すればLow profileスロットにもインストールすることが出来る。

このケースは、価格はそれほど安いわけではないが基本的な機能は非常にしっかりしている。オンボードVGAを使うなどグラフィック面での消費電力がそれほど大きくなくLow profile縛りも気にならないという人には、このケースは非常にオススメできる。何よりPCを組みやすい設計なので、自作が楽しくなる。今回のPCケース購入は、我ながらアタリだったと思う。
