欲しいものリスト「Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000」

いままで使っていたのは Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical と Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse。いずれも機能はシンプルな Microsoft の光学マウスだ。一時期Logicoolのマウス（たとえば MX1000 Laser Cordless Mouse ）を使っていた時期もあるのだが、ポインタの動きの相性からこの数年間は Microsoft の Optical 系を愛用している。

ところが、ここ最近になって急に再び Wireless マウスへの興味が出現してきた。デスクトップパソコンを使用している関係で机の奥からマウスのケーブルを引いているが、有線だとどうしてもマウスのケーブルとの距離を保つために猫背になってしまうように感じられたのだ。一度思い込んだらもうどうしてもそのハードウェアが欲しくなって溜まらない。かつて充電の手間が面倒くさいということ（使いたいときに限ってバッテリー切れになる！）を理由にMX1000をヤフオクで売却してしまったという前科があるにもかかわらず、今はまた Wireless マウスが欲しいのだ！

前回MX1000で失敗した理由は、パソコンを使い終わった後に充電器にセットすべきマウス本体をセットせず机の上に放置したためだ。毎日数時間はパソコンを使う僕にとっても充電は週に1回でも十分だったのだが、それゆえ1週間以上も充電せずにマウスを放置し、結局肝心なときにバッテリーが切れるというピンチに陥るのだった。乾電池にも対応していないマウスの場合は充電が完了するまで待つか、押し入れの中にあるパソコン関係ハードウェア入れから昔使っていた古い有線マウスを出してくるか、いずれかの辛酸をなめる羽目になったのだ。

今回は乾電池に対応していることが採用の必要条件だ。当初購入をもくろんでいたMicrosoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000は、ビックカメラ京都駅前店にて実物をさわってみたところホイールの感触が気に食わなくて購入をやめた。ホイールの回転にはクリック感がしっかりないとダメで、ホイールを回すとクククク…という心地よいクリック感があって指を離せば瞬時にパッとホイールの回転が収まる必要がある。ところがMicrosoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000も同8000も同Naturalバージョンも同じくホイールのクリック感が全くない。スルスル滑るようになめらかなホイールで、指を離してもコンマ数秒間は回転が続いてしまってキュッと止まらない。なんという締まりのないマウスホイール！というわけで、乾電池対応かつクリック感のあるホイールを求めて行き着いたのがこの結論。欲しいものリストにMicrosoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000を追加しよう。

ちなみに、最近マウスホイールにクリック感があるタイプのものが減ってきていることを憂慮している。なめらかで滑るようなマウスホイールが増えてきてクリック感のあるホイールは徐々に市場から駆逐されているように感じる。同じように、ノートパソコンのディスプレイもつや出しツルぴかタイプ（しかもワイド）が増えてきているように感じて、ディスプレイはマット調でツヤなし（しかも横4：縦3比率）であるべきだと信じている僕は現状を憂慮している。
