Amazonでの実売価格は、2008年10月1日現在で12432円。2.5インチHDDを買うのに比べてそれほど無理せずに手に入れることもできそうな金額である。60GB版は25032円、120GB版は45000円。

SLCに比べてその情報の保存性と読み書きの高速性で劣るとされていたMLCではあるが、この頃はMLCでも十分にスペックを確保できるらしい。その証拠にIntelが先日リリースしたSSDはスペックでもベンチマークスコアでも他社のSLCタイプのSSDを圧倒しているが、これはMLCタイプである。インターフェイスとファームウェアの構成次第でSLCとMLCの違いは吸収できる範囲内なのかも知れない。

さて僕が現在使っているノートパソコンはThinkpad X40とThinkpad T42なので両方ともSerial-ATAに対応しておらず、今回発売となるこのSSDは使用できない（というか、すっかり旧規格となってしまったPararel-ATAにはSSDが発売された事実も予想も何も存在しない）。だからこうやってインターネット上に出てくる情報をうらやましく見ているだけなのだが。Thinkpad X40のほうは中古のThinkpad X61なんかに買い換えても良いかなという気もしていて、その時にはまたこのSSD購入を検討してみようと思う。
