貸し手から借り手への融資はオークション形式で決定される。借り手は借りたい理由や使用用途、それに希望金額と希望金利を提示してオークションを開設する。貸し手はオークションで提示されたこれらの情報や借り手のプロフィールを見て、金利や融資額が希望する条件に合えば融資を申し出る。複数の貸し手が一人の借り手に融資を行うこともある。貸し手が十分に集まればオークション形式で最も金利が低い組み合わせの貸し手からの融資が行われることとなる。

貸し倒れのリスクはmaneoではなく貸し手個人が追うこととなり、回収が出来なければ貸し手が元本を失うことになる。まだサービス開始して間もないのでどの程度の信用リスクや貸し倒れがあるのかも未知数なところが多く、貸し倒れの際には個人の貸し手が泣き寝入りするということだから、お互いの顔が確認できないネット上ではそれなりにハイリスクな投融資だと思うのだがどうだろうか。

成りすましなどを防ぐために信用情報機関に照会したり身分証明書の提示を求めるなどの本人確認は行っているようだが、やはり成りすましや貸し倒れは少ないながらも存在することだろう。maneo本体は寺銭をしっかり取って貸し倒れリスクを負わないというのはビジネスを行う上で当然なのかも知れないが、保険もなくリスクは貸し手に丸投げというのは貸し手になかなか厳しい。欧米で普及しているとはいえ、消費者金融業が極めて進んでいる日本で、その消費者金融が貸さない相手に個人で融資をするというのは、もしかしたらとてつもなく大きな罠なのかも知れない。それを考慮しても利益があると思えるだけの金利面でのリターンがあるかどうか、今後見極めたいところ。
