Googleツールバー 5が公開された。

Googleツールバーの新バージョン、Googleツールバー 5が公開された。といっても僕は今のところFirefoxユーザなので（将来は別のブラウザを使っているかも知れないが）、まだGoogleツールバー 5はBetaの段階である。現時点ではInternet Explorer版だけ正式版になっている。

色々新機能が追加されていることに関しては各種ネット上のニュースサイトを見ていただくとして、個人的に最も嬉しいのはPagerank機能をオンにしていなくてもGoogleのウェブ履歴に訪問サイトの履歴が掲載されること。Googleツールバー 4でも同様の機能はあったが、これまではRagerank機能をオンにしなければこの機能が使えなかったので、ツールバーを基本的に非表示にしてブラウザを広く使いたいというワガママとは両立できない仕様になっていたのだ。

Firefox 3.1+Googleツールバー 5 Betaを試してみたところでは、どうやらPagerank機能をオフにしていてもウェブ履歴にはちゃんと掲載されるっぽい。Internet Explorer版のほうのヘルプにはPagerank機能はGoogleツールバー 4まではオンにすることが必須だと明記されているが5ではその記載がないので、Googleツールバー 5からそういう仕様に改められたのかも知れない。現時点ではFirefox版のGoogleツールバーにはその点に関する記載が見あたらない。
