本体のデザインも初期の頃のEee PCに比べてずいぶんと洗練されてこなれたものになってきている。カラーバリエーションも豊富になっていて、物欲を刺激する。Eee PCはSSDを採用しているという点で魅力的だ。ほかに60GBの無料オンラインストレージが付く。本体色は、ブラウン、シャンパン、グラファイトの3モデル。

いまモバイル用として使っているThinkpad X40も軽くて持ち運びしやすく性能面でも恵まれた機種だったが、1.4kgありバッテリーの持ちもS101には及ばない。それにHDDをCFを使った疑似SSD化して若干の高速化は図ったものの、それでも容量・アクセス速度の面でも及ばない点は多数ある。S101を欲しくないと言ったらウソになる、というのが正直なところだ。
