IDE-HDD搭載ノートPCでもSSDを使いたい

僕は昨年末に、場所を取るデスクトップ自作機をばらしてヤフオクで処分してしまったので、今使っているのは自宅のThinkpad T60と職場のThinkpad T42、それにモバイル用（ネットブック的な）Thinkpad X40という3台のノートパソコンがあるのみだ（押し入れの中に前世紀の遺物的な旧世代機はまだいくつかあるけど）。自宅のThinkpad T60はHGSTの7K320（SATA 7200rpm 320GB）というHDDを使用しているが、その他の2台はIDE-HDD時代の機種なので最近ラインナップの充実が著しいSSDは簡単に搭載できない。IDE用のSSDも、たとえばTranscend等からリリースされているが、現在もっとも売れていると思われるSamsungのものは無いし、その性能で多くの人々を魅了してやまないIntelのSSDもSATAしか発売されておらず、やや寂しい。Thinkpad X40に至ってはHGST型の1.8inch HDDというマニアックなHDD形式を採用しているがために普通のIDE用SSDすら載せることができない。

需要はあると思うのだが。IDEはインターフェイスの問題でSSDをあまりに高速化しても結局PC側の律速要因で高速化につながらないということは考えられるのだけれど、同じ自作PCファンなのにSATAワールドばかりが盛り上がっていて、こちらは実に寂しいのだ。どこのメーカーでも良いので、Thinkpad X40に合うSSDを開発・発売してもらえませんか？
