転居に伴う光ファイバーネット回線の閉開通の立ち会いについて

8年間住み慣れた京都から、仕事の都合で岡山県に転居することとなった。それにともなって現在の住居のBフレッツマンションタイプを廃止し、新しい転居後の住所であらためてBフレッツマンションタイプを開通させることとなった（フレッツプレミアムは転居後のマンションの設備の都合で開設ができなかった）。NTTに固定電話回線の転居の日時を決める際に、プロバイダにはOCNを利用している旨を伝えたところ、電話回線の移転日と同日程で光ファイバーインターネット回線とプロバイダも転居してくれるということで、サービスの良さに感心した。

しかしいかんせん、光ファイバーインターネットの回線をひいたり廃止したりするに当たって工事に立ち会いが必要なのは非常に不便だ。前回のBフレッツを引いた際も自宅にNTTの係員がやってきて光ファイバー回線を開通する「工事」を行ったとのことだが、実際には持参したノートパソコンを見ながらなにやらソフトウェア的な設定をしていただけであったから、果たしてこれで立ち会いが本当に必要なのかという疑問を抱いた。当時は学生だったので平日に工事に立ち会うということもそれほど困難は伴わなかったが、社会人になって同じことを仕様とすると俄然難しい。今回も立ち会いが必要ということが非常に僕を悩ませている。

3月末付けで現職場を退職し、4月1日からは新しい職場で働き始める予定である。平日はもちろん終日勤務があるし、NTT側は土休日の工事は受付できないという。こちらとしてはたとえ5000円くらいのサービス手数料を取られたとしても日曜に工事をしてもらいたいものだが、平日しかできないというのは、このご時世にあまりにもサービスが悪い。一人暮らしの会社勤めの人間が多い時代に、光ファイバーのネット回線の開通だけのために有給休暇を取ることも難しく、困ってしまっているのである。

NTTはこの問題をどう考えているのかは知らないが、不便であることは間違いない。クロネコヤマトなどの宅配業などと同程度の水準で時間指定ができればずいぶんと利用しやすくなると思うのだが。でも競争原理が働かないところではこのようなサービス改善を望んでも仕方がないことだろうか。
