ネットの再開通に手間取った理由

以前に住んでいた京都でBフレッツの解約時に接続端末機器VH-100E(N)を返却した（回収にきたおじさんに手渡した）。それ自体は問題なかったのだが、以前使っていた無線LANルータ（Web Caster V110）を指さして「これも回収対象である」とそのおじさんが主張したので、僕も深く考えずに無線LANルータを返却してしまった。さらに悪いことに、無線用のアクセスポイントカードをWeb Caster V110に刺したままで返却してしまった。たしかにWeb Caster V110もNTT西日本からの貸与品だったのだが、後から調べたところではこれは返却せずに転居後の新居でも使い続けるはずのものだった。

NTT西日本に電話したところ、すぐにWeb Caster V110を再発送するといって送り直してきてくれたのだが、刺しっぱなしであったアクセスポイントカードは入っておらず、無線LAN通信ができない。おそらくこれもNTT西日本（あるいはOCN）にクレーム電話を入れればあらためて送り直してきてくれたのかもしれないが、そもそもWeb Caster V110自体はサイズが大きくてかさばる上にデザインはリビングに置くにはイマイチであり、また無線通信もWEPかWPA-PSK TKIPしか対応していない（AESが無い！）などやや機能面でも遅れているところがあったので、もう面倒くさくなった僕は新しい無線LAN機能付きルータを購入することにした。こうして出会ったのが無線LANコンパクトルータ Draft11n CG-WLRGNXWである（次の記事に続く）。
