Thinkpad T60の無線LANの調子が悪くて苦労した。

もともとThinkpad T60のワイヤレスLAN（無線LAN）は調子が悪くなることがしばしばあるようだ。というのも、Googleで検索してみると何らかのドライバ（無線LAN関係かどうかすら不明）を更新したところThinkpad T60でのワイヤレスLAN通信速度が大きく低下したという現象があちこちで報告されているからだ。何が悪いのかはわからない。

僕もThinkpad T60の無線LANでのネット利用が非常に重くなるということに悩まされていた。インターネット上のスピード計測サイトで測定するとそれほど遅くはない（といっても8～10Mbps程度だが）のに、実際にインターネットで各種サイトを開いてみるとずいぶんと表示がひっかかる。ブラウザをFirefoxやIEに変えても効果は無く、キャッシュの消去やウイルス対策ソフト・ファイアウォール類のアンインストールでも改善しない。それに有線のLANケーブルをつないでみるとこのようなひっかかり現象は起こらないので、この重さは無線LANが原因となっていることは明らかだった。ちなみに、旧愛機であったThinkpad T42のほうではこのような現象は起こらなかったので、ルータ側の問題ではなくThinkpad T60側の問題なのだろう。

そういえば以前はこういうひっかかりを経験したことはなかったので、いつからかこのひっかかり現象が出現したようだ。ネット上の情報を見てみると、何かのドライバを更新したところあたりからやたらにThinkpad T60の無線LANが重いらしい。

さんざん色々試してみたがなかなか解決できず、結局無線LAN関係のドライバを全部アンインストールして、再び入れ直すという行為を行った。それも、最新版ではなく敢えて少し古いドライバを捜してきて適用した。使ったのは6.0.2.75で、いまのところ安定してひっかかりなく動作している。結局、何が原因なのかは特定できなかった。
