Google Chrome 4に望むこと

センターホイールのクリックでリンクを新しいタブに開いたときはアクティブタブになって欲しい。

現状ではホイールで新しいタブを開いても現在のタブの右側にインアクティブなタブとして開かれるだけ。マウスジェスチャーで「右のタブに移動する」というのを割りつけて手動で移動しているが、FirefoxのTab Mix PlusをChromeにも移植して欲しいものだ。

最後のタブを閉じてもブラウザは残っていて欲しい。

そもそも現状ではパソコンのブラウザは基本的に常時起動しっぱなしである。そういう意味ではブラウザがOSに取って代わるというGoogleの目論見は当を得ている。しかしそのGoogleのChromeが、最後のタブを閉じるとブラウザもシャットダウンしてしまう設定にしたのは残念だ。僕のFirefoxでは最後のタブはマウスジェスチャーで閉じれないようにしている。

マウスジェスチャーでタブを閉じたときに次にアクティブになるタブは右か左か選べるようにして欲しい。

たとえばRSSリーダーから次々とウェブページを開いて順番に見てゆく時、タブが左右どちらに新しく開くかを選べるか、あるいはタブを閉じたときに次に左右どちらのタブをアクティブにするか、少なくともどちらか片方は実現してもらわないと困る。

チェックボックスやラジオボタンが消失するバグをなんとかしろ。

これはBeta版ではなく正式版を謳うブラウザでは致命的なバグと言えるのではないか？印刷画面を開いて閉じると復活することもあるが、そういう問題ではない。

フォントの設定に「ウェブサイト指定のフォントを無視する」を付けて欲しい。

Meiryoになったり明朝になったり、余計なことをしないで欲しい。使用者が自分の最も読みやすいフォントに設定しているのだから。

ポップアップブロックの常時OFFを設定できるようにしてほしい。

そもそもポップアップブロックを必要としていない。そのような下品な広告が出るページはあまり訪れることがないし、出てもマウスジェスチャーが実装されていればタブを閉じることはそれほど手間になることはない。むしろ必要なページが表示されないこともあり、ポップアップブロックは必要ない、できれば常時OFFとしておきたい機能なのである。

最小フォントの設定（Firefoxみたいに）。

おそらくmacユーザが作ったウェブサイトだと思うが、時々Windowsで見ると恐ろしくフォントの小さいウェブサイトを見かける。最低フォントサイズを設定できるFirefoxはお年寄りのみならず全てのインターネットユーザーに優しい。

スムーズスクロールの標準搭載（これはエクステンションでなんとかなる）。
マウスジェスチャーの標準搭載（これもエクステンションでなんとかなる）。

これは時間の問題のようにも思える。エクステンションでなんとかなるのでとりあえずは気にしないこととする。

もっとも、あれやこれや文句はいっているもののGoogle Chromeを使用するとその描画の速さに驚かされるのも事実。使ってみて実感するのは、IE8と比べてもFirefox 3.6と比べても圧倒的にウェブページの閲覧がスピーディである。それだけに細かい操作感で残念なところが余計に目についてしまうのかもしれない。
